Still Looking for Something to Read Before the Summer is Over?

Students all across Georgia will be starting back to school in the next few weeks, but there’s still time to read a few more books before the summer is over.

So, if you’re looking for ways to stay out of the heat (because, wow, is it hot outside or what?), here are a few book ideas for students of all ages.

For ages 0-8, learn about the commonalities of children everywhere in All the Colors of the Earth by Sheila Hamanaka, travel the world to collect ingredients for apple pie with How to Make an Apple Pie and See the World by Marjorie Priceman, meet neighbors from all over the world in Madlenka by Peter Sis, or have an International Food Day with Yoko by Rosemary Wells. Find more book ideas for younger children in these two summer reading list from NoveList.

There are plenty of books for ages 9-12 as well. Read letters that cross the cultural divide in Extra Credit by Andrew Clements, solve the mystery of a friend’s disappearance with Ted and Kat in The London Eye Mystery by Siobhan Dowd, or read about the loyalty of man’s best friend in Hachiko Waits by Leslea Newman. Find these and more book ideas in this summer reading list from NoveList.

Teen readers have plenty of options as well. Journey along with Annika’s adventure in The Star of Kazan by Eva Ibbotson or travel through the sky on a kite with The Kite Rider by Geraldine McCaughrean. Find these and many more stories about people from around the globe in this reading list from NoveList.

Find these books and more at your local public library.
