Robbie Barber Named 2025 GALILEO Ambassador Award Honoree

Robbie Barber, a teacher-librarian at Tucker High School, is the recipient of this year’s GALILEO Ambassador Award.
Annually, GALILEO honors an educator, librarian, or library staff from across the state who goes the extra mile to advocate for GALILEO and lifelong learning opportunities in their schools, universities, or communities.
The award was announced in June at the GALILEO Annual Conference.
Barber is an all-around educator with a background in library sciences and engineering. She has been at DeKalb County’s Tucker High School since 2017.
She has served on a number of GALILEO committees and consistently presented at GALILEO conferences, offering her advice and expertise in reaching students.
She has been nominated multiple times for the GALILEO Ambassador Award.
This year, Eric Parker, the principal at Tucker High, had this to say:
“Dr. Robbie Barber exemplifies the spirit and impact of a GALILEO Ambassador through her dedication to promoting research skills, supporting information literacy, and expanding the reach of GALILEO among students and educators across Georgia.
“Her commitment to empowering learners with research tools and critical thinking skills has made a lasting impact at multiple educational levels.”
In a previous year, a nominating colleague said: “She is extremely dedicated and passionate about teaching both students and teachers how to use reliable resources. We are extremely fortunate to have access to a wealth of resources that are provided through GALILEO, and Dr. Barber continually demonstrates these quality resources that are available 24/7 to students and teachers.”
Thank you to Robbie Barber for being a steward of GALILEO, Georgia’s virtual library!
