NetLibrary Interface Transition to EBSCOhost Complete

EBSCOhost has completed the transition of NetLibrary to the EBSCOhost platform. Beginning tomorrow, NetLibrary will be rebranded as eBooks and Audiobooks on EBSCOhost within GALILEO. The link will also be changed and will point users directly to the database on the EBSCOhost environment. The GALILEO Express Link will remain the same: http://www.galileo.usg.edu/express?link=zmnl

Although all former NetLibrary URLs, including direct links to ebooks from your OPAC, are supposed to be redirecting to the new EBSCOhost interface, the direct link redirect is not currently functioning properly. Instead of dropping the user off at the eBooks and Audio Books on EBSCOhost search page or directly at the book record, the links are taking user to an EBSCOhost select service screen. You can locate the eBooks link if you click on the link to “EBSCOhost Databases.” EBSCO is working on fixing this problem. Once we have further information, we will share it via the GALILEO list and GALILEO News.

The new EBSCOhost platform offers the same functionality as the retired NetLibrary interface:

  • No account or special software is needed to view e-books. An integrated e-book viewer is utilized within the interface for browsing the ebook from a computer.

  • The NetLibrary Collections managed through GALILEO (Shared Collections 1, 2 and 9) for Public Libraries, AMPALS, GPALS, Technical Colleges, and University System of Georgia institutions are not available for checkout or download.

  • Libraries with the GALILEO NetLibrary MARC records loaded in their ILS will not need to make any changes – these URL’s will forward to the new platform. (When this issue is fixed!)

  • The “My EBSCOhost” folder function has been upgraded to include functionalities currently available from the NetLibrary account.
