Happy Birthday to Natasha Trethewey, Georgia Poet and U.S. Poet Laureate

In honor of her birthday, we thought it appropriate to highlight Georgia’s own Natasha Trethewey, who serves as the U.S. Poet Laureate for 2012-13.

Trethewey’s works of poetry include Domestic Work (2000), Bellocq’s Ophelia (2002), and the Pulitzer Prize–winning Native Guard (2006). Her 2010 memoir, Beyond Katrina: A Meditation on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, was published by the UGA Press. Her poetry also appears in the Spring 2012 issue of The Georgia Review. Search for her name or her works in the Discover GALILEO search box to see articles and more.

You can also read more about her life and work in the New Georgia Encyclopedia.
