GALILEO is there: Finding Your Next Favorite Book

In celebration of National Library Week, we are doing a series on how GALILEO is there supporting your community.

Yesterday, we looked at GALILEO resources to help you find jobs and further your career.

Today, let’s talk about NoveList, a book recommendation tool to help you find a new book or author based on your favorite books or authors.

First, you can search for a favorite book title or author. Find your favorite book or author in the results list and then check out the links to Title Read-alikes and Author Read-alikes links to see recommendations. You’ll also see Series Read-alikes for some books.

Second, you can search for a topic of interest and then narrow your results using “appeal terms” on the right side of the screen. You can narrow by the type of Storyline, the Pace or Tone of the story, by the Writing Style, or by a particular Subject or Location.

Third, find book lists on the Home page of Novelist. Note that you can see recommended reading lists for many genres, including historical fiction, mysteries, romance, science fiction, and more. Just look at the list on the left of the Home page of NoveList.

Also, see some of the tips we’ve shared earlier on how to use NoveList:

Some links may not work off site. Log in to GALILEO first for access. Contact your local public library for assistance.
