GALILEO Activities This Week: April 26, 2010

The Georgia Public Library Service is hosting the GPLS Technology Bootcamp April 27-29th at Amicalola State Park Lodge. IT staff from public libraries across Georgia are participating in this event. The primary goal of the event is to bring technology support personal together to share experiences and ideas. Katie Gohn, GALILEO Support and E-Resources Lead, will be attending this event and will discuss the technologies that make GALILEO work, customizing GALILEO for your public library, and direct linking to GALILEO resources from library websites.

On Wednesday, April 28, 2010, Ken Henslee will be providing a free online GALILEO training session, Sparing a Dime: GALILEO for Tough Times, which will look at resources on careers, interviewing, job training, in addition to resources that help libraries stretch their offerings. See the GALILEO training page for more information and registration.

Lauren Fancher will be participating in 34th Anniversary Georgia Student Media Festival on Friday, April 30, 2010 at the Clayton County Schools Professional Learning Center, joining the volunteer judges from around the state in reviewing the student projects. This year, the GALILEO staff have sponsored two prizes for use of GALILEO resources in an individual and class project.
