FY2013 Database Changes

The FY2013 database decisions for the different GALILEO consortia have been finalized. Many of you have participated in reviewing these options in both formal and informal processes; given the ongoing challenges for budgets the outcomes this year are very positive, and include some exciting changes to the Public Library package, an addition for the Technical Colleges, and stability in the packages for the other communities.

Georgia Public Libraries
Adding (look for upcoming training sessions):
· ePrep
· Learning Express Library
· Job and Career Accelerator
Canceling:
· Informe (affects all of GALILEO)
· Encyclopedia Britannica (all editions and components, including Elementary, Middle, High School, Public Library, Online, Escolar, Moderna, Annals of American History, Global Reference Center, Learning Zone, and World Data Analyst)
· Library Literature (was available for staff only)
· ProQuest suite (ABI-Inform/Research Library, LION Reference, etc. ) and maintain only ProQuest Newsstand (WSJ, NYT, etc.)
· Ebsco’s History and Literary Reference Center
Changing:
· Reduced content in Ebsco suite from Masterfile Premier to Masterfile Elite

Technical College System of Georgia
Adding: Films on Demand - Career Collection (August 1, possibly sooner)
Canceling: Informe (had been provided by public libraries)

University System of Georgia
Atlanta-Macon Private Academic Libraries (AMPALS)
Georgia Private Academic Libraries (GPALS)
K-12 Public Schools
K-12 Private Schools (GISA)

All, canceling Informe (had been provided by public libraries)

We are working with vendors to make all changes in a timely manner. Because of licensing procedures, some database changes may not occur until after July 1, 2012; we will announce each change as it is made.
