Find a Good Book for the Holiday Break

Looking for a good book so that you have an excuse to curl up in a warm, comfy chair with a cup of hot chocolate over the holiday break? If you weren’t looking for one already, are you tempted now? Are you wondering what that book should be? GALILEO can help!

NoveList and NoveList K-8 are great tools to find the next book to read. Here are a few of the features that can help.

First, the front page has the latest best-sellers with several recommendations for each. Click the title of the recommendations to see why NoveList recommends that book.

If you have a favorite genre, such as mysteries, historical fiction, or science fiction, the recommended lists on the left of the NoveList screen offer a good quick lists of book ideas. You can even pick a particular type of book in each genre. For example, in mysteries, you can find a list of historical mysteries, paranormal mysteries, classic mysteries, and more.

Also, try out the author read-alikes link on the right side of the page in NoveList. If you have a favorite author and have now read everything by that person and still want more, look that author up in the author read-alikes. Each article will give suggestions for other authors and books to hold you over until your favorite author publishes the next book.

Finally, type the title of a favorite book in the search box and then click the title of that book from the list. Over on the right (beside the information about your favorite book), you’ll see recommendations of similar books. If those aren’t enough, scroll down to search for more books like your favorite - you’ll have the chance to pick the themes or other things you liked best about your favorite book before you search.

As always, you can check with your public library to see what books are just waiting for you to read them.

Now, go find a great book and a warm spot to read!
