Films on Demand Discontinued Titles and Option to Purchase

This message is intended for GALILEO institutions who subscribe to Films on Demand:

Twice a year, Films on Demand, removes titles from their database that have been discontinued or that they no longer have the rights to. Before these titles are purged, institutions who subscribe to Films on Demand can purchase perpetual access rights to these films. You can find a listing of these discontinued titles here:

Films on Demand Discontinued Titles as of 11-01-10.

For further information about purchasing access to any of these titles, please contact Clark Turner with Films on Demand. His contact information is included in the original announcement below.

——ORIGINAL ANNOUNCEMENT FROM FILMS ON DEMAND———-

Dear Customers,

As you know, your Films On Demand video collections are dynamic and new titles are automatically added on a monthly basis at no additional cost.

Occasionally, titles are removed which have been discontinued and/or we no longer have the rights to put in or collections. We understand that some of these titles may be of importance to you and do not want to remove them without some advance notice. In order to give ample notice, we’ve decided to purge the collections twice a year, in late December and in July, when usage should be low.

Attached is a list of the titles that will be removed. If your librarians or faculty want to retain access to any of these titles, they can license them in perpetuity individually, but this needs to be done before the purge.

If you are interested in keeping any of this content please let me know by December 15th as the purge will take effect on December 30th.

Once again, thank you for using Films on Demand!

Regards,
