Congratulations to Georgia’s Own Natasha Trethewey!

Natasha Trethewey, a professor of English at Emory University, has been named the U.S. Poet Laureate for 2012-13.

Trethewey’s works of poetry include Domestic Work (2000), Bellocq’s Ophelia (2002), and the Pulitzer Prize–winning Native Guard (2006). Her 2010 memoir, Beyond Katrina: A Meditation on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, was published by the UGA Press. Her poetry also appears in the Spring 2012 issue of The Georgia Review.
