Tornadoes and Tornado Safety

Trees turning green and flowers popping up everywhere tell us that spring is here. Unfortunately, this also means that tornado season is upon us. Are you prepared for the possibility of a tornado this season?

GALILEO includes some articles that can help. The Tornadoes article in Encyclopædia Britannica includes a Tornado Safety section with an overview of recommendations. Research Library from ProQuest (available to all public libraries and some academic institutions) provides an article with safety tips as well as an article with more information on tornado preparedness.

The Georgia Emergency Management Agency also offers a good pamphlet on disaster preparedness, which can be found in Georgia Government Publications.

If you would like to learn more about the science of tornadoes, check out this article in Research Library or the Tornadoes article in Encyclopædia Britannica.
