State Librarian Assumes New Leadership Position
From the GALILEO October 2022 e-newsletter.
State Librarian Julie Walker has been named to a new position to oversee GALILEO, the Georgia Archives and Georgia Public Library Services.
Effective July 1, Walker assumed the role of vice chancellor for libraries and state archives. She reports to Ashwani Monga, the recently appointed executive vice chancellor for academic affairs.
Given the similarities in function and operation of the state’s libraries and archives departments, the University System of Georgia pulled these areas together under one umbrella.
Walker has served as state librarian since 2014. Prior to that, she was the deputy state librarian; assistant state librarian for technology, support services and strategic initiatives; and director of PINES.
