Tips and Training

New GALILEO Training Tools Available

“Great Things to Know About GALILEO” is a collection of self-guided training modules packaged for integration into a staff development or continuing education program in the library. The modules were designed with a focus on public library practices but can be useful for staff in all types of libraries. Each module presents an introduction to a resource or tool in GALILEO, ways to help patrons using the resource or tool, opportunities for hands-on practice, and quizzes to assess learning. Each module takes approximately 30 minutes to complete, and features are included to make it easy to use anywhere, even on a public information desk. These modules are perfect for new library staff and for other staff wanting a refresher in GALILEO and database research.

The training modules are available on the GALILEO training site. They are also available in the WebJunction Georgia course catalog. Information on joining WebJunction Georgia is available at the Georgia Public Library Service Continuing Education site.
