K-12 News: Onsite Access, Authentication and Link Updates

(This article first appeared in a email to our listserv.)
Welcome back!
As many of you are starting to arrive on campus soon to begin preparations for a new and exciting school year, I am pleased to announce that we have completed some major behind the scenes technical updates and improvements to GALILEO.
Onsite access: Onsite access has been completely restored. Students should never have to login to GALILEO when they are at school. If your students are ever asked for the password when they are at school, please contact GALILEO support.
Passwords: You and your students will continue to access GALILEO via the password from off campus. Passwords will change on August 5. Password notifications went out on July 3, so be sure and check your email. If you need to know your system’s password, please contact GALILEO support.
Authentication: We are now using a more stable authentication solution for offsite access. You should notice better, faster, and more consistent performance when accessing GALILEO from off campus.
Link Updates:
- Media specialists and teachers will need to update any persistent links you are using to items (eBooks, articles, etc.)
- You do not need to update links to GALILEO databases (express links)
- It is recommend that you update links as soon as possible
- Existing links should continue to work until September 1, 2025. If you find an existing link that is not working, please go ahead and update it.
- We have created a vendor-by-vendor guide to updating links available here.
We look forward to working with you all throughout the school year!
As the year begins, note that GALILEO staff are available for training sessions designed to meet your needs. We are happy to present in person or live online at events for school media specialists and teachers. If you are interested in having GALILEO provide a customized training session for your staff, please contact us.
