Are You a Fan of GALILEO?

In honor of the 15th birthday of GALILEO on September 21, 2010, GALILEO is holding a contest for GALILEO users: show your support for GALILEO and your use of GALILEO by creating a poster, powerpoint, video, or “fan.”

Your support will help demonstrate the value of GALILEO. Whether you create a digital story about your town using images and maps from GALILEO’s Digital Library of Georgia, make a poster to promote GALILEO, or decorate a fan showing why you are a fan of GALILEO, the possibilities are endless. All qualifying submissions will be displayed in an online scrapbook depicting the positive impact that GALILEO’s rich collection of materials has on the quality of life and education in Georgia. Teachers and media specialists are encouraged to work with their classes to create entries, and libraries are encouraged to represent their college, university, K12 school, or public library system or branch. The “Where I’m From in GALILEO” lesson plan is a great activity aligned to Georgia Performance Standards for all K12 grades that can be used to produce the entries. Entries must be submitted by May 14, 2010 September 15, 2010 (deadline has been extended). See complete guidelines for details. Winners will be announced at the GALILEO Virtual Birthday Party on September 21, 2010.
