Affordable Learning Georgia Awards $471K in Latest Grant Round

Affordable Learning Georgia (ALG) recently awarded more than $471,000 to University System of Georgia faculty and instructors to further the adoption and use of open educational resources, or OER.
ALG selected 35 projects (from 14 institutions), including 16 transformation grants, 16 continuous improvement grants, and three research grants. There were 47 applications from 17 institutions total during this round.
Topics included nursing, math and English, and award amounts ranged from $2,000 to $30,000.
Augusta University and Georgia State University received the highest single grants, with two $30,000 and one $30,000 grant respectively.
These grants will save students an estimated $842,000 annually in the cost of course materials.
An initiative of GALILEO and the University System of Georgia, ALG promotes student success by increasing the availability of affordable alternatives to expensive commercial textbooks.
Since its inception, the grant program has awarded more than $9.6 million.
