GALILEO SUPPORT

Question

How do I search for content by Lexile or grade level?

Answer

A Lexile score indicates the level of difficulty of reading materials and allows Georgia educators to match resources with a student’s reading level. Several GALILEO databases for K-12 include a Lexile score with the article or book information and also let you limit your search to a Lexile range.

The GALILEO bento and classic search provide a Lexile facet (when available) on the search results page:

Bento:

Classic:

GALILEO resources that provide full text and include Lexile or grade level content:

  • SIRS Discoverer
  • MAS Ultra
  • TOPICSearch
  • Middle Search Plus
  • Primary Search
  • Explora

Users can use the GALILEO database search to identify resources that are tagged “lexile:” Databases that offer lexile searching or additional information about reading level are discoverable through the database search:

GALILEO provides ebooks for all K-12 schools. Although these collections are not searchable by Lexile or reading level, GALILEO provides NoveList, a reader’s advisory tool that provides Lexile and grade level information for many children’s titles:
