GALILEO SUPPORT

Question

How do I get a GALILEO password?

Answer

Note: As of July 1, 2023, GALILEO will no longer support password access for institutions that are set up for Single Sign On with OpenAthens. Click here for a list of those institutions. If your library is on this list and you do not have access credentials, contact your library

Georgia Resident/Public Library User
If your public library participates in PINES, you can access GALILEO using your PINES account instead of using the GALILEO password by following these steps:

  1. Log into your PINES account
  2. Select “GALILEO Virtual Library” from the top navigation bar.
  3. You will be redirected to GALILEO and will be logged in as your public library system.

Note: If you do not have a PINES card and need access quickly or are not able to travel to your library branch, you can register for a PINES e-card.

If you are unable to access via PINES or if you are at a non-PINES library, contact your public library.

Public College or University User (USG)
Most of the University System of Georgia libraries now use Single Sign-On (SSO) for access to GALILEO databases. When you go to GALILEO or a GALILEO database, you will be prompted to log in with your campus credentials.

If you need the GALILEO password for your institution:

  • Go to your institution’s library homepage (all USG institution libraries)
  • Locate your library catalog or library account
  • Click on “GALILEO password” under “Access My Library Account.”
  • Log in using your institutional credentials.
  • You will see the GALILEO password title containing your password listed at the bottom of the page. It may take a couple seconds for the GALILEO password to display. In addition to being provided the password, you will be automatically logged into GALILEO.

GoView (USG) Students, Faculty, and Staff
To access GALILEO as a go view user, you do not need a password or single sign on (SSO) credentials.

  • Log into GoView
  • Click on “GALILEO” in the top navigation bar
  • This link will take you to GALILEO and log you in automatically as a GoView user

If you are still prompted to enter a password or receive an error, please close all your browser windows and follow the steps above again.

If this does not work, please contact GALILEO using the support request form.

    Private College or University User
If your institution still uses a GALILEO password for access or if you need the GALILEO password, contact your college or university library.

Many private colleges and university libraries now use SSO for access to GALILEO databases. When you go to GALILEO or a GALILEO database, you will be prompted to login using your campus credentials.

    Technical College User (TCSG)
All Technical College System of Georgia libraries now utilize SSO for access to GALILEO databases. When you go to GALILEO or a GALILEO database, you will be prompted to log in using your campus credentials.

GALILEO passwords are still available. If needed, contact your technical college library.

    K-12 User (public and private)
Ask a teacher or visit your school media center.

    Guest Users
GALILEO provides access to Digital Library of Georgia and other resources that do not require authentication.
