2025 GALILEO User Survey Highlights Strong Value, Clear Priorities for Improvement
The 2025 GALILEO Annual User Survey confirms that GALILEO remains a highly valued and widely trusted research resource for students, educators, librarians, and lifelong learners across Georgia.
Conducted in November 2025, the survey gathered 661 valid responses and focused on core measures of satisfaction, usability, and perceived value. Changes in this year’s survey include:
- Streamlined question set with fewer open-ended prompts.
- Removal of K–12 questions targeting students.
- Added questions on workplace library type and purpose of GALILEO use.
- Removed one performance statement (response time) from the value section.
Overall results were strongly positive. Nearly 94% of respondents agreed that GALILEO is a valuable service—the highest score in the past eight years. Users consistently praised GALILEO for providing reliable, credible academic content and for supporting learning, research, and teaching.
Many respondents emphasized the importance of GALILEO’s extensive database coverage, including resources such as JSTOR, ProQuest, and Academic Search Complete, as well as its role in helping users complete assignments efficiently and with confidence.
At the same time, the survey identified several recurring areas for improvement.
- Ease of use declined by nearly six percentage points compared to the previous year, making it the most notable drop among performance measures.
- Open-ended feedback revealed common concerns related to search relevance, navigation complexity, and login challenges—particularly for off-campus access.
- Users also expressed a strong desire for clearer tutorials, beginner-friendly guidance, and more transparent indicators of full-text availability.
In response, GALILEO has already begun addressing these concerns through interface redesigns, expanded training opportunities, and continued enhancements to search functionality and accessibility. Planned improvements for 2026 include additional K–12 usability upgrades, more embedded tutorials, and ongoing webinars to support users at all experience levels.
Altogether, the 2025 survey findings show that while GALILEO’s core value remains exceptionally strong, targeted usability improvements will be key to sustaining and expanding its impact in the years ahead.
