The Library as an Innovation Hub: Fostering AI Literacy Through Interdisciplinary Conversation and Collaboration

Summary

In the summer of 2025, the Intellectual Property Librarian and Digital Learning Librarian from the Georgia Tech Library began working with stakeholders across the Institute to coordinate a weeklong series of focused workshops for the fall, centering on exploring the tangible impact of AI tools on teaching, research, and intellectual property. Leveraging the library as the hub of campus scholarship and as a neutral ground for frank conversations, the organizers sought to address key questions about the ethics and long-term impact of AI tools on teaching and learning across subject areas, how AI is already changing academic research processes, and what those changes mean for future innovation and the development of intellectual property. In this session, we will discuss our successes and challenges, and how bringing AI subject matter experts into the library can build interdisciplinary collaborations and promote AI literacy.
