NetLibrary Interface Transitioning to EBSCOhost Platform (eBooks & Audiobooks on EBSCOhost)
As previously announced, EBSCOhost will be retiring the current NetLibrary interface. At some point during the next two weeks, access to NetLibrary e-books will transition to the EBSCOhost platform and will be rebranded as “eBooks & Audiobooks on EBSCOhost.” We do not have a firm date from EBSCO for this change, but have been told it could be as soon as July 16th. We will post any more specific information to the GALILEO list and to GALILEO News if it becomes available.
The new EBSCOhost platform offers the same functionality as the NetLibrary interface:
No account or special software is needed to view e-books. An integrated e-book viewer is utilized within the interface for browsing the ebook from a computer.
The NetLibrary Collections managed through GALILEO (Shared Collections 1, 2 and 9) for Public Libraries, AMPALS, GPALS, Technical Colleges, and University System of Georgia institutions are not available for checkout or download.
Libraries with the GALILEO NetLibrary MARC records loaded in their ILS will not need to make any changes – these URL’s will forward to the new platform.
The “My EBSCOhost” folder function has been upgraded to include functionalities currently available from the NetLibrary account. However, personal account information will not transfer to the new platform. Users may want to capture and save any information associated with their current NetLibrary account before July 16th.
NetLibrary Usage statistics will not transfer from the NetLibrary LRC to EBSCOhost nor will they be archived. If you are currently utilizing the NetLibrary LRC to capture NetLibrary usage, you will need to capture your current usage before July 16th.
You can preview the new interface from the “Preview E-books Today” link in the current NetLibrary interface:
