GALILEO: Great Return on Investment

A librarian at Emory University tells us, “I can think of no educational/public service in Georgia that returns more on its investment than GALILEO. In this time of economic difficulty, our libraries, colleges, and universities are more important than ever as information resources for all the people in the state of Georgia, not just those who live in major cities. From the Folkston to Lookout Mountain, from Plains to Toccoa, GALILEO is there for students, small businesses, and citizens who need information of a higher quality than is available through Google and its like.”

GALILEO Fan: Pat Borck

Pat Borck, Library Director at Macon State College, tells us, “GALILEO’s wings spread far beyond the state borders. One of our faculty members has had to spend some weeks in Kansas this summer, but wanted to be able to continue her research on a book project. With the GALILEO password, she is able to access all the GALILEO resources she was using on campus and her research can continue without a break. She e-mailed me last week to sing the praises of GALILEO and its remote access capability.”

Thank you, Pat, for your support. We’re glad your faculty are able to access GALILEO from anywhere to continue their research.

GALILEO is the Best Thing That Happened to Georgia

Adrian Mixon, Director of the Hall County Library System, says, “Galileo is the best thing to happen to the citizens of Georgia. Suddenly the homebound and the mobile, student or lay person has at their fingers what could once only be found in the best academic libraries in Georgia. No matter where they live or where they are located in their travels, at no additional cost, all Georgians can now explore their historical past, keep up with the most current news in their area of interest or be the lay scholar. Galileo has truly improved the lives of the citizens of our state.”

Thank you, Adrian, for your support of GALILEO. We hope all Georgia citizens will take advantage of the resources offered through GALILEO.
